Some of our Car Air Conditioning service work on a variety of vehicles
3 series BMW 92 model
Some of the extremes I have to go to to find a leak. It is illegal to ‘top up’ or regas any air conditioning system knowing it has a leak – any vehicle requiring a regas has to have a leak!
This really is a specialist field, that’s why I use state of the art specialist equipment to pin point a leak instead of guessing like most competitors. Most of the time this requires removing external and internal trims and fittings..
Ford Mondeo - rectification job from a competitor
Ford Mondeo
Another rectification job from a competitor. The owner of this vehicle had no a/c so he drove it to a local workshop whom was highly recommended.
The technician concluded that “there is power getting to the compressor but the clutch is not engaging. It requires a new compressor”.
So I was called out to fit a second hand compressor that the owner had sourced. After a quick 2min test I diagnosed the fault and had it fixed within 5min & performance tested. The owner can return the part for a refund.
Unfortunately for vehicle owners this situation is all to common and I see it every week, people getting ripped off largely from incompetent ‘tradesman’ who literally have no idea what they are doing.
Check out the unnecessary wiring they have unsatisfactorily connected to the compressor plug….I could not find a reason for it and had to remove and clean it up.
VF commodore 2014 - suspicious issue
VF commodore 2014
A very suspicious issue with a late model vehicle a day after it had been serviced at a dealership.
The air conditioning stopped working all of a sudden after the owner had the brakes and service done, I was recommended to find the fault.
The dealership in question offered to regas the system (which they did) knowing it had lost refrigerant therefore had a leak (illegal).
Have a look at the tiny hole and odd location on the a/c line below which resembles being drilled…coincidence? wow.
Cleaning of an evaporator
We stand out from the crowd.
Before removal and cleaning of an evaporator and housing from a HZJ 75 series Landcruiser
This is what a clean, disinfected evaporator should look like.
All a/c lines/joins separated to replace o-rings as well.
Kenworth truck - failure of the air conditioner compressor
This callout was for a complete failure of the air conditioner compressor.
Both of the drive/pulley belts melted or broke because of the seized compressor meaning the driver still had to finish his days work without an alternator or air conditioning.
This system had never been touched before so all of the pipe & hose fittings were locked together and very hard to break the thread and seperate the join.
After many litres of solvent to flush the system the amount of debris that came out was astonishing!
Lots of corrosion in the pipe internals which is consistent with lack of and poor previous maintenance.
Get your vehicle air conditioner serviced every 2 years to avoid this situation.
Old Mercedes sprinter van - a test to find and diagnose a fault
An old Mercedes sprinter van
As we never know the history of any given vehicle unless it’s a 1 owner, it can be a test to find and diagnose a fault.
This a/c system had NIL refrigerant. I had to pressurise the system to find out whether it was serviceable, it had no power getting to the compressor. After getting power to the compressor and actuating it, the result was surprisingly good – quiet/good suction and good discharge. I serviced the system seals and fitted a new pressure switch, evacuated and regassed with R134a. A good result with 5.9’c at the vents..
Mitsubishi Triton - very labour intensive job
Mitsubishi Triton
A very labour intensive job when done properly including in cab removal of dash trims and fittings, steering column and clutch pedal/mount (to remove & replace evaporator)
A full system service & replacement
-new OE Air Conditioner compressor
-new OE condenser
-new TX valve
-new drier
-new pressure switch
-full o-ring/seal kit
Remove & replace evaporator – clean and disinfect
Solvent flush
Thoroughly evacuate system then regas R134a to vehicle specs.
Add UV dye and boosters
Performance test was great.. Practically a new system.
Holden Captiva Air Conditioning Service
Holden Captiva
An a/c service that required an initial performance test for serviceability and a thorough visual inspection, nitrogen pressure test, desiccant replacement, degrease plug/filter, remove debris bugs etc from all cores and cabin filter removal. Super seal was added to the a/c system after a thorough evacuation followed by re-gassing with R134a.
Subaru Outback Air Conditioning regas
Subaru Outback
This is a prime example of why it is very important to test and retest an a/c system before and after servicing – I get many calls daily from car owners ‘wanting a regas’
***if any vehicle requires a ‘regas’ then it has obviously lost refrigerant and MUST have a leak***
An initial pressure test showed dramatic and steady loss of pressure. I serviced the entire systems orings(seals), reassembled then proceeded with another pressure test showing a much smaller leak (loss of pressure). I now had to find it finally at an alloy HP discharge line (see bubbles).
This is the difference between my comprehensive servicing and competitors.
You can’t buy experience.
Toyota Yaris replacing the drier in the condenser
Toyota Yaris
The owner of this vehicle opted out of servicing & replacing important components, wanting just the a/c compressor changed (all to save a few dollars) . I explain to every owner the risks involved by not solvent flushing/replacing the TX valve & dryer because usually there is a reason why a compressor fails. I ended up removing, cleaning & replacing the dryer in the condenser anyway, to clear my own conscience..
